With its new Stylus SX510W, Epson has brought out an all-in-one device to take care of printing, scanning and copying.
This printer is not especially expensive and can also be wirelessly integrated into the network – possibly saving valuable desk space. This ink-jet printer is not aimed at professionals however.
Despite the fact that this printer has separate interchangeable ink cartridges, the Stylus SX510W is aimed at home users. It can scan at 2400 dpi, and print at a maximum 5760 x 1440 dpi. At this resolution, this Epson printer can reach a rate of 36 A4 pages per minute, including in colour. 10 x 15cm photos take 20 second each, and according to Epson, the quality of these prints matches up to that of photo labs.
The all-in-one printer comes complete with a small LCD screen which should make it even easier to use. PictBridge and a memory card slot should also make it possible to use the printer without connecting a PC. Those who want to edit the photos before printing them can make use of the simple software provided by Epson. This program should at least let users adjust the colour and contrast of the images, and reduce red-eye too. The Epson Stylus SX510W is already out, with an RRP of 149.99€ (around £128).
